This impression is then used to create the custom-made crown.
Placing of the Temporary Crown
While waiting for your custom-made crown to be made, a temporary crown is placed over the prepared tooth. The temporary crown is made from a less durable material than the permanent one, so it is essential to take care and not bite on hard objects or chew sticky foods while wearing it. The temporary crown can last for several weeks until the permanent crown is ready to be placed.
Placing of the Permanent Crown
At your second appointment, which will usually take place about two weeks after the first, the dentist will take off your temporary crown and check to ensure that your custom crowns fit correctly. If everything looks good, the permanent crown will be cemented into place.
