Patients who have this type of bridge will need to be careful not to put too much force on the pontic, as it could dislodge the wings. However, Maryland-bonded bridges are usually solid and can last for many years with proper care.

Bridge Supported by Dental Implants

Implant-supported bridges are a type of fixed bridge that is supported by one or more dental implants. Implants are titanium posts surgically implanted into the jawbone to support the replacement tooth or teeth. An implant-supported bridge is a good option for patients missing multiple teeth in a row and who have enough bone density to support the implants.

Dental Bridge Procedure

The first step in the dental bridge procedure is to prepare the existing teeth by removing a small amount of enamel. This creates a rougher surface that will help hold the new bridge in place. Once the teeth have been prepared, impressions are made and sent to a dental lab to create your custom dental bridge. You will receive a temporary bridge while waiting for your permanent one.

Once the bridge has been completed, you will return to our dental office to have it placed. It will be attached to the abutment teeth with dental cement. Finally, the biting surface of the bridge will be adjusted to ensure a comfortable and natural fit.
